How the planning range is built

The calculator is designed for early budgeting and quote comparison. It does not replace an inspection or predict an individual contractor’s price.

Calculation

  1. Start with the selected coating system’s national base range.
  2. Add allowances for slab condition and decorative finish.
  3. Apply the selected market’s BLS construction wage index.
  4. Apply project minimums and round the range to the nearest $50.

The wage index is a market-level proxy, not a survey of garage-floor installers. Materials, crew availability, travel, moisture, access and warranty scope can outweigh the local adjustment.

Local labor adjustment

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

May 2025 Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics provide mean hourly wages for construction and extraction occupations by metropolitan area. Each market index compares its local wage with the national $31.42 hourly mean.
